Albertsons links grocery, travel for loyalty members

Grocery shopping now comes with a side of vacation savings. Albertsons has added a benefit to its For U loyalty program, allowing members to earn cash back on travel bookings.

The feature, called For U Travel, is built on technology from Expedia. It allows loyalty members earn rebates on a wide range of travel purchases, including airfare, hotel stays, car rentals and vacation packages. The cash back you earn can then be redeemed for groceries at Albertsons stores.

A Closer look at the Rewards

The rewards structure features:

• Up to 5% cash back on hotels, activities, packages and ground transportation.
• 1% cash back on flights.
• Members of the retailer's paid loyalty tier, FreshPass, will earn at twice those rates, making it an even more lucrative option for frequent travelers.

Albertsons' loyalty program has over 47 million members.
